We love the people we serve and serve with, but sometimes circumstances beyond our control separate us, as did the recent pandemic, and insecurity in some parts of the world.
Despite advances in communication and the possibility of sending resources and other forms of remote engagement, we do reach our limit.
We have been unable to visit some partners in Asia and Haiti for far too long; the separation has become unbearable; therefore, after exploring ways to visit, we sent representatives.
Many years ago, a community of faith was formed in what is now Greece1; it was the result of a short-term team mission lasting three weeks. A return visit by the missionaries was so long delayed they ended up sending a representative instead of the full complement.
EMAS Teams are doing the same, following the pattern set long ago, we have sent a representative to Asia, are preparing to do so to Haiti and another part of Asia before Christmas.
The privilege of serving Jesus through healthcare teams is rewarded by special relationships that fills our hearts with immeasurable, sometimes bittersweet, joy. We are heartbroken by the death the clinic administrator in Gambade, but encouraged to hear how they are overcoming the setback and meeting the healthcare needs of the community. We are delighted to hear of the wellbeing of our family in parts of Asia and how the good work we started with them continues to improve the health of many.
