We take this opportunity to thank Dr. Emile Woo for his years of service between 2007 and 2026 both on the China South surgical team and as a board member and board chair.
Dr. Woo stepped down from Board membership at the AGM held on April 25, 2026.
Emile was our board chair from 2017-2025.
During his tenure, his leadership sustained our organization through the COVID pandemic and subsequently into a new chapter, handing over leadership at the start of the 2025 Strategic Plan.
Emile will be remembered for among many attributes his humour, generosity, thorough knowledge of Roberts Rules, and consensus building skills.
Emile continues to serve EMAS Canada as a mentor to our leaders and medical trainees.
We wish him God’s blessings as he pursues his love for the scriptures through theological studies while continuing his leadership as a gastric cancer surgeon and associate professor of surgery at University of British Columbia.
